Environmental Performance
ArchitEXE strives to acheive good environmental practices
Transport
Thomas Shillitoe, the sole practitioner works from a home office, ensuring no environmental impact for commuting to his place of work. For site visits, he will walk or cycle where practically possible. If the site is near to a railway station he will take the train from Topsham station. If non of the above options are practically possible, he will drive. This is the least preferable option and so is combined with other required visits where possible.
Office Supplies & Waste
ArchitEXE requires paper and ink for printing, envelopes for posting and pens for sketching and writing. We aim to source all products as locally and sustaina
bly as practically possible. As much waste is recycled as is practically possible.
Energy usage
The home office has energy efficient lighting and the computer has a energy saving socket so that when the main desktop computer is shut down, all peripheral hardware (printers etc) are automatically isolated rather than remaining on standby.
Electronic Mail and Online Submissions
Since 2008, all planning applications have been submitted online, greatly reducing paper and ink use, as well as removing the environmental impact of posting printed applications. Correspondence is by e-mail where deemed sufficient.
ArchitEXE is continually reviewing its policies in order to become a 'greener' company.
